Be a Try Handmade Columnist

Note: I’m not currently accepting new candidates

About the perfect candidate:

  • Most important: You have an impeccable feel for what is wonderful in the handmade world right now.

  • Motivation: You are self-directed and willing to make time every week to write a wonderful post and submit it on Sunday.

  • Skills: You are able to write effortlessly in US or UK English without grammar or spelling errors. (Posts are at least 300 words – excluding quotes from others – each week and include a minimum of 3 compelling images.) You have a capable computer and a reliable connection to the internet. You are able to resize photos without distortion using software like Photoshop or online tools like Picnik. You have experience using a blogging platform such as WordPress or Typepad, or are a quick learner.

    Keeping in mind that Try Handmade is for shoppers, not makers, what specifically would you like to post about? (Topics like 'How to run a craft business' are very interesting, but not consistent with the focus of this site.)

    I'm currently looking for contributors in:

    - craft tutorials (yours or a roundup of others)
    - spa and beauty products
    - organization and simplification
    - small space living
    - plus size fashion

    - I'm also very open to suggestions as long as it's a specific focus area, not just 'beautiful handmade things.'

    Make sure it's something you have a passion for as you'll be covering it weekly :)
