Corsets for the Plus Sized

I am one of those plus sized people who has no Bust. I also have a belly that falls from just under my non existent bust due to pregnancy and genetics… I find that sometimes this causes clothing to make me look pregnant, I do get asked every now and again when I’m out and about with my 2yo “When is the next one Due.” Which is a little embarrassing for the person asking the question, I’m sure.

I therefore ‘LOVE’ the look of corsets, either as underwear or overwear. As a plus sized woman though, I’ve tried many different sorts, and it really depends on your body type. However, one thing that is a must is Steel Boning. The plastic boning just does not work for the larger woman, I find that whenever I wear one with plastic boning, it only takes one slightly off kilter movement and the boning now has a kink! Totally uncomfortable and annoying. (Steel boned corsets, obviously are not for your everyday round the house kinda wear, they are constricting, and they do take a little getting used to.. but such a nice body line is achieved!)

Vio Gemini Designs on Etsy has some gorgeous Corsets and Pants.

Overbust Corset by Vio Gemini Designs

Overbust Corsets generally suit women with a decent sized Bust moreso than their Smaller Busted counterparts.

UnderBust Corset by Vio Gemini Designs

UnderBust Corsets can really emphasise your Bust. I love this style of Corset. This one is also a long line Corset, which is great for Plus Size women as it smooths from the waist down over the hips aswell, they give a lovely line over formfitting skirts/dresses.

They also do these gorgeous Corseted Fishtail Skirts, that really set the corsets Off!

Thanks for this! I'm getting married in June and was trying to decide if I should spend the money on a high quality steel boned corset for under my dress. I just didn't know if it would really make any difference compared to the plastic boned ones. It's nice to read a review from another plus size girl. :)
