Handmade Independence Day

Here in the US it’s time to begin gearing up for the 4th of July! What better way to celebrate our independence day than with handmade goodies? Okay, maybe you want to have a barbecue too, but let’s focus on the handmade for now and you can plan your menu later.

I love cuff bracelets and this one, by September House, will look stylish on your wrist on Independence Day and every other day of the year. I adore the folk fabulous look of this bracelet!

Next up is a wonderful corsage. Unlike flowers though, this corsage was meant to last a lifetime! Made from cleverly recycled zippers, this pin, from Zip Pinning, puts a fresh spin on the red, white, and blue.

Yet another accessory perfect for the 4th of July is this flirty headband from Old School Trading Co. Available in child and adult sizes, this headband does double duty, showing your patriotic spirit while also keeping an unruly mop of hair out of the potato salad.

Need a way to adorn your table or your home? Try this wonderful moveable candle from Koko Candles. This candle would also make a fabulous gift for any friends with an interest in Americana.

Another item in the home decor category is this fun painting of Lady Liberty by Pumpkin Seeds Folk Art. What better way to show your love for all things American than by supporting an artist working in a traditional folk style?

My final selection this week is one that is sure to bring fun to your whole family. This paper, printed with American-themed sayings, is made and shipped by Ormulo, but you get to decide how to assemble it. I love the paper chain option here and think this would make a great project for the kiddos!

Next week we are going to celebrate summer by looking at handmade swimwear! That’s right, you can buy swimwear without ever having to venture near a department store dressing room!

Especially over the 4th of July, I’m proud that my indie jewelry biz is named Liberty Originals – and even more proud to be a part of the great new 4Seasons market. I live in Liberty Hill, how bout that!
