Handmade Organization

Have you been doing your spring cleaning? If you have, you know that cleaning is about more than chasing away those dust bunnies. It’s also about finding organized solutions to your clutter problem. I am all about helping you find handmade solutions, so let’s get going!

I have a soft spot for canisters. They are handy not just in the kitchen, but in every room in the house. These particularly beautiful canisters from Blue Sky Pottery are inspired by nature and they will inspire you to stay organized.

Today we tend to keep a lot of information, phone numbers, emails, addresses, stored in our cell phones. But if you’ve ever lost your phone, you know how important it is to have a written record of all that important data. You could put it on your computer, but this fun address box set from The Luvlee Chase will have you keeping all your addresses the old fashioned way. As an added plus, it looks adorable on your desk.

If you have containers piled high on shelves, you know how troublesome it is to track down what you need. You don’t need to take every box down in order to find the right thing though. Using labels like these from TLG Crafts will help make sure that you never have to spend hours digging for the box that contains the special items you need.

Speaking of boxes piled high on shelves, those boxes don’t have to be ugly. Beautiful bins, like this fabric one from Henry and Zoe Studio Designs, help you store out of season clothes or accessories in style.

Another great storage idea is repurposing a vintage item and giving it new life in your home. This chipped and fabulous toolbox from Old Crow Farm would be great to hold art supplies or, for an even more non-traditional use, how about using it to hold silverware and serving utensils? What a fun way to store some of your kitchen and dining goodies!

You can never have enough fabric pouches, in my opinion. Not only are they handy in your purse to hold cosmetics, pens, cell phones, etc., but they are also great to have around the house to hold an emergency sewing kit, paper clips, or toiletries. This one from Rohmer has an elegant design with a nod to the French. Tres Chic!

I hope these handmade and repurposed items have helped get your gear organized. Join me next week when we look at accessories in amazing spring and summer colors.
