How long have you been designing?
I have been designing since 2008, I have always had a love for fashion.
What are the items you have handy at all times for working?
Paper, pencil, scissors and fabrics that I get from the LA fabric district.
Can you tell us a little of your process?
First I find inspiration and create a style. Next, I look at textures and colors that would best fit and flatter the style. Then I usually make a sample of the product and it usually takes a lots of adjustments before the style is finalized.
Where do you get your ideas?
From everywhere and anywhere, everything beautiful, themes, colors, vintage and my personal style.
Is this your full-time job?
The job started as part time and now it is full time.
Do you have a best seller?
Yes, fortunately one of the first styles I made, the classic low cut v-neck fold over sleeve tee. I wanted to start off with a simplistically chic top that was lady flattering and unique. The sleeves were vintage inspired and it’s not too loose or too fitted so it flatters any body type. The v-neck was made with extra detail to be low but still have class.
Do you have a favorite item?
I personally wear the slouch top in black often. I love the way it’s sexy without revealing any skin except the shoulder. Very versatile and it can be casual or dressed up.
What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
Hopefully the same thing but with lots more inspiration and wisdom. I would also love to dabble in other ventures and help others.
Have any advice for people trying to start their own handcrafted business?
Stay focused, do your own thing and stay true to what you really love and see as beautiful. Be open to advice and stay happy and kindhearted throughout the journey…
It’s not easy… but have patience and find your motivations.
