I’m in the first state, for the first time, for vacation. So I thought it fitting that I should bring you the best of Delaware for this week’s shop local post!

On our first night here, we stopped in a tiny little building set just off the main boulevard of Rehoboth Beach. Heidi Lowe Gallery is an “Innovative Jewelry Studio” that houses small exhibitions of jewelry art throughout the year. I got to see a display made up exclusively of earrings!

The inside of the gallery is quite simple and the displays change with each exhibition. For the jewelry exhibition, Heidi had affixed black silhouettes to the cream colored walls. Each silhouette displayed a single earring.

The earrings ranged from the simple to the sublime. A Pennsylvania favorite of mine, Megan Auman had several pairs on display. I also enjoyed the work of Lynette Andreasen who works with the juxtaposition of metal and fiber in her embroidered jewelry.

While I can’t stop thinking about this amazing little place, you’d probably like to see a bit more eye candy from Delaware…

Home Sweet creates block printed textiles using simple palettes and retro patterns. She explains her passion, “I’m motivated by the projects that are successful- they’re organic and beautiful, and the fact that I’ve invested myself in them gives them roots.”

Aryal Ames, out of Wilmington, creates industrial jewelry from sterling silver. “Most of my jewelry is oxidized. I love the beautiful gray that comes from that process. My style is simple, clean and most of all…wearable,” she says.
