Having recently taken over Scoutie Girl, in addition to writing Handmade in PA, I no longer feel *quite* so bad about sharing my local favorites with you!

Every week I think, “should I share Pittsburgh this week?” Sadly, I decide, “no, I must find new crafty communities this week…”

Well, folks, this is the week! I just can’t keep them to myself any longer! As crafting communities go, Pittsburgh totally rocks. The Pittsburgh Craft Collective is one top notch organization, organizing classes, hosting meet-ups, promoting festivals, and spreading the handmade love all around the black & gold city.

In fact, the PC2 is hosting the first annual Crafts N’at. “Crafts N’At is an opportunity for independent crafters to show and sell their wares, establish their business, and to celebrate creativity. It features over 50 vendors, make & take crafts for children and adults, craft demonstrations, live performances, a Chinese auction and raffle, and an outdoor BBQ.”

Pittsburgh is also home to the I Made It! Market – a nomadic craft market bringing indie craft to different neighborhoods all over the city! Carrie Nardini, the founder of IMI, is a good internet friend of mine and a *huge* supporter of craft. From the IMI site, “The Market is an inclusive happening that welcomes artists or other “makers” in the Pittsburgh region to meet like-minded individuals, to create new opportunities, or to find a receptive environment in which to sell new art.”

If you’re ever around the ‘burgh, check out the local craft scene. There are always shows to see and events to attend!
