tapebubba: I now offer a full 51 different colors of tape, in both gaffer tape and duct tape, and a few other specialty tapes. You can see kind of how I roll. What would you like to see? I also will build your photos/images into your custom wallet. You provide me one or two .jpg digital images of your choosing. I’ll make the insides of the world famous The Stuffer out of duct tape in colors that compliment your image(s). Then your photos will make the outsides. A tough translucent layer of transparent duct tape protects the outside.
I’m an Engineer by profession, and a compulsively creative perfectionist by genetic code. Born in Syracuse, raised in Yorba Linda, educated in Berkeley, and residing in El Cerrito, I handmake wallets, passport covers, checkbooks, cardholders, and notebooks out of various kinds of tape. All tapebubba proceeds go to Second Grader sonoftapebubba’s college fund. I supply the creativity, the tape and the labor.
People sometimes ask me why I always take a photo of each wallet laying flat. The reason is that my wallets actually do lay flat, and your wallet should lay flat too. If the wallet you are about to buy doesn’t lay flat when it’s empty, what do you think it will look like when you have put your stuff in it? Speaking of photos, something else that is different about tapebubba is that I actually take a picture of the wallet I am selling you. The photos in my listings are of the actual item you are going to receive. Seems obvious to me that you deserve that. Apparently not everyone feels that way about what you deserve.
Today’s Shop Local post hails from balmy Tampa, Florida – and goes to show that retirement has reached the handmade & art communities of the state!
I’m totally digging this original art by Anika Easter. Combining wood, paint, and other media, these works jump off the wall. Her art appears to be conceptualized in the state between dreaming and waking. She says, “Sometimes I’ll dream up this incredible painting and when I wake up it slips out of my mind. Apparently I have a very creative subconscious. My goal is to prove it exists.”
Watercolors are my favorite medium to paint with. I’m always astonished by how each painter is unique in their process and execution of this medium. The following artists are some of my personal favorites. Notice how the use of watercolors change from artist to artist and celebrate the difference with me.
Geninne’s Art Shop is full of intricate watercolor paintings. The artwork here makes me feel like I’m looking at beautifully illustrated scientific classification books. This particular painting, Crafty Bird, would be a cherished gift for your crafty friend or to yourself. I want one for my sewing room!
Several months ago I was fortunate to win a print of Lisa Kaser’s work. I instantly fell in love with all of her quirky characters and the sense of storytelling portrayed in each piece. Her use of gentle colors and humorous scenes invites peace and conversation. You will love the high quality of her work.
I marked CGalla Fine Art as a favorite almost one year ago and I check in every couple of weeks to gaze into the melting colors and movement of the paintings. I can’t get over how much emotion is conveyed from the brush strokes. The up-close faces are my favorite but there are several landscapes and still life paintings as well. This is an exquisite gallery!
I just about fell over when I discovered Be Happy Now. You will be smiling from ear to ear each time you glance at the artwork found there. Calendars, prints, collages and originals are all waiting for you to dive into. I’m fascinated by the lighthearted portraits painted in brilliant color combinations.
Do you love a little mystery in your art? If so, skip on over to Oh My Cavalier. The drawings and prints will have you dreaming of forest adventures and make believe friends. There is a vintage feel to the artwork and the restrained use of color is fantastic. I’m captivated!
As you have seen, watercolors are an intense and quite intriguing medium. Aren’t the different uses and styles wonderful? I hope you found a few artists to add to your favorites and perhaps a piece or two of artwork to add to your ever expanding collection.
I know that spring is time for cleaning out and organizing, but is summer time for redecorating? It sure is feeling that way to me! Maybe it’s just all the garage sale finds that I am repurposing or the warm weather inspiring me to bring some sunshine into my home decor, but right now I have definitely been bit by the decorating bug. This week I thought we’d focus on one of the quickest ways to do some redecorating – adding new prints to your walls. There’s no faster or easier way to spice up blah bedrooms, boring baths, and dismal dining rooms than with a flurry of new art. With that in mind, here are some of my favorite options.
This first print comes from NorthTrain Designs and features two of my favorite things – bugs and old books. I love that the print is done on an old dictionary page, lending a vintage modern feel to any room.
I love the next print, a Godzilla inspired colorful confection from Monster Gallery, for its Geek Chic. It would look darling in a nursery or child’s room, but my husband would also love it above his desk, in our family room, or as a fun touch in a retro kitchen.
The room that is most in need of art right now in my house is the master bedroom. We are getting a new quilt, made by my aunt, and I have been on the hunt for just the right images to go with the new bedding. I’ll definitely be ordering one of these finch prints from Bee Things. The cheerful color and folk art based design are just the thing to keep our room feeling fresh and keep smiles on our faces when we wake up.
Continuing the bird theme, this adorable little owl from Jen Skelley is simply wonderful. He would be lovely on a gallery wall in your hallway, or perfect in a child’s room or studio.
Another whimsical and beautiful print is this one from Leah Duncan. The soft colors would be perfect anywhere in your home!
Last, but not least, this fabulous print from Undone. The pattern and colors in this one are just stunning!
If summer is making you feel like your home needs some redesign, try some of these handmade prints to lighten and brighten every room! See you next week!
You know, Dads are an amazing thing! They give hugs, they play rough, and they are always there to lend a hand and give their kids some encouragement. This year celebrate the Dads in your life with fabulous handmade gifts like these.
This great card from Puppy Love Creations is sure to show Dad how much you love him. The fun colors and cool design ensure that he’ll want to take this card to work to display on his desk.
